Position Title: Site Designer

Position Description:
Binghamton University is searching for a Site Designer to work closely with our Licensed Landscape Architect and Site/Civil Designer to assist with planning, design, and construction administration of projects on the main and satellite campuses. The candidate will work with campus community members, under the supervision of a Landscape Architect, to establish project scopes, develop concept designs that reflect established budgets, refine designs into biddable construction drawings, and monitor construction.
This position will focus heavily on the horticultural side of site design projects on campus and will work closely with the Grounds Department. Candidate will spend time analyzing and monitoring the layout and health of existing vegetation and make recommendations for improvements to existing campus plantings. They will also focus on planting plans for new projects that are based on current best management practices for horticulture, including the use of appropriate native plants, which is becoming a standard for new projects on campus to help us meet recently established sustainability goals. Ideal candidate would have experience in both horticulture and site design to assist with the development of projects that attain a balance of practical, unique, and innovative design.
